  1. Helen Brown says:

    Dear Dr. Benson,

Can you recommend a therapist specializing in compulsive shopping behavior in the San Francisco Bay Area?

    Thank you,

  2. Dr. Benson,
I’m in desperate need of a Psychiatrist for my elderly mother who I have had to take in because of her spending. Can you please give me a referral to a Psychiatrist in Columbia, SC who specializes in this so that I can get her the help that she desperately needs? I would be eternally grateful and hopefully this will ease so many of the tensions in our relationship and life. The Psychiatrist must be able to take Medicare and she has an awesome Supplemental. Thanks again!

    Sincerely,
    Michael

    • Dear Michael,

I’m sorry to hear about the problems your mother is having. I sorry that I don’t know any psychiatrist in Columbia, South Carolina. y However, I doubt very much that you will need someone who specializes in overspending. I’d recommend that you ask friends and family or your health care providers for a referral.

      Regards,

      April Lane Benson, Ph.D.

  3. Dear Dr. Benson,
Our 17-year old daughter is destroying our family with her compulsive shopping. She easily spends over a thousand each month. No matter what we have tried, we can’t stop it. We live in Litchfield County, CT (Lakeville), and would be SO grateful if you could please suggest professionals in our area or in NYC who take insurance. THANK YOU!

    • Dear Lina,

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter’s compulsive shopping and the effect it’s having on your family. I’d be very happy to help you find someone to help your daughter. Please email me at soadminintern@gmail.com and I can offer some suggestions.

      Warm regards,
      April Lane Benson, Ph.D.

  4. Samantha LoBosco says:

    Dr Benson,

I am a 27-year old female living in Manhattan and have been struggling with shopping addiction for about 3 years now. My compulsive spending has caused me to be unable to afford the 12-week treatment plan that you offer. Please let me know if there are other treatment options available in NYC.

    Regards,
    Samantha
